Within every grassroots organization, there are people who see a community need and are willing to invest years, if not a lifetime, to develop a vision and see it become reality. One of Our Community House of Hope’s founders was exactly that kind of strong woman.
As a registered nurse, Teresa used her nursing skills by helping those who were dying. While working for a local hospice organization, she saw first-hand, a growing number of people needing a place to die in peace. There were more and more people without family to care for them. Many were dying lonely and alone. This led Teresa, with a friend, to found Our Community House of Hope.
Always the visionary, Teresa continues to advance the training of nursing students in end-of-life care and promote community education on how to best prepare for their own end days. Without her tenacity and many volunteers, Teresa’s dream of a home for the dying would never have come true.
